Shipping artwork internationally can quickly become more complicated than people expect.
Whether you’re sending a painting to the United States, relocating a collection overseas, selling artwork to a buyer abroad or transporting a valuable piece to a second home, there are often multiple parties involved.
Depending on the shipment, you may need to consider:
- Professional packing and crating
- Insurance options
- Customs paperwork
- Export requirements
- Import procedures in the destination country
- Carrier requirements
- Additional documentation requests
One of the biggest challenges is simply understanding who is responsible for what.
What Does Collect Corner Do?
Collect Corner is not a transport company, insurer, customs broker or packing company.
Instead, we act as a local point of contact, helping clients navigate the process and identify the services they may require.
Depending on the shipment, we can assist with:
- Obtaining shipping quotations
- Comparing transport options
- Recommending specialist packing and crating companies
- Coordinating collections
- Assisting with customs paperwork
- Helping clients understand documentation requests
- Providing shipment support and communication throughout the process
Our goal is simple: to make international artwork shipments easier to understand and manage.
Professional Packing & Crating
Artwork should be packed appropriately for its value, size and destination.
Collect Corner does not provide packing or crating services directly. However, we can recommend trusted specialist companies operating on the Costa del Sol that are experienced in professionally packing and crating artwork for international transport.
This is particularly recommended for valuable, framed, glazed or fragile pieces.
Insurance & Transportation
The transportation of artwork is carried out by the selected carrier, which may include DHL Express, UPS, FedEx or other specialist providers.
Insurance, where available, is provided by the chosen carrier and remains subject to their terms, conditions and coverage limits.
We can help identify the most suitable transport option based on the destination, artwork value and the client’s requirements.
Customs & Documentation Support
International shipments often require paperwork and, in some cases, additional information after the shipment has already left Spain.
Requirements can vary between countries and may change without notice.
For clients who would like assistance, we offer customs and documentation support services, helping prepare export paperwork and assisting with documentation requests throughout the shipping process.
Additional fees apply for these services.
Why Many Clients Choose Additional Support
International shipments often involve multiple organisations, authorities and service providers.
Whilst transport companies are responsible for moving the shipment, questions relating to customs clearance, documentation requests and import procedures are often handled locally in the destination country.
This can sometimes make it difficult for senders to know who to contact or how to respond when additional information is requested.
For this reason, many clients choose additional shipment support from Collect Corner. We provide a helping hand throughout the process, helping coordinate communication and keeping clients informed whenever possible.
